IT Home reported on June 24 that TrendForce released a blog post today (June 24). Affected by Nanya Technology's suspension of DDR4 spot quotations last week, a price inversion phenomenon unprecedented in DRAM history has occurred, with DDR4 16Gb chip prices rising to twice that of DDR5.

At the time of IT Home's publication, according to the latest data from DRAMeXchange, the spot price of DDR4 16Gb (1Gx16) 3200 increased by 4.35%, with the average price reaching $12.3. Meanwhile, the spot price of DDR5 (2Gx8) 4800/5600 stood at $6.053.

Apart from Nanya Technology suspending quotations, major suppliers including SK Hynix and Micron are negotiating final purchases with DDR4 customers, which has driven up spot prices. The institution also predicts that contract prices will rise in the third quarter.

TrendForce predicts that the contract price of PC DDR4 in the second quarter will increase by 13-18% compared to the previous quarter, higher than the previous expectation of 3-8%; while the price of server DDR4 is expected to rise by 18-23%.
